Frequently asked questions
What is Bowen treatment like?
Bowenwork consists of a sequence of gentle, non-invasive rolling moves of varying pressure at specific sites on the body to stimulate tissue and nerve pathways. Registered Bowen therapists use gentle, cross-fiber techniques to massage muscles, tendons and ligaments without forceful pressure. Throughout the session, the therapist will pause briefly and often to help your soft tissues reset naturally and allow your body to heal. Treatment is generally quite relaxing and peaceful, lasting 30 minutes to an hour.
How quickly will I notice results?
Many patients see a dramatic reduction of symptoms after the first session. By the second or third session, most find that their symptoms are dramatically reduced or completely gone.
Is this a one-time treatment?
Like many other forms of body therapy, Bowen generally works best when performed in a series of treatments. However, some may find relief after just one treatment. Once you’ve achieved your desired level of healing and comfort, it is best to maintain health and wellness with monthly sessions.
If you have chronic pain or repeated injury, you may require additional treatments or find that Bowen isn’t the best option. If your symptoms do not resolve, we always recommend you consult your physician.
Can this be combined with other therapies (chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy)?
Yes, but there are certain restrictions that may apply. You may be asked to delay this treatment or another to allow your body to heal. Please ask us how we can tailor the session and scheduling to suit your needs.
Where do you perform Bowen work?
We hold therapy treatments in a calm, private room with a massage bed within our wellness center.
How long does a session last?
30-60 minutes
What should I wear?
Bowen techniques are performed over the clothes. Thin or light clothing is best so our Bowen therapist can manipulate your soft-tissues.
How much does it cost?
$80 per treatment
